Avion operates in an Application Services Provider (ASP) configuration. Hardware and software are located at PRISM's offices and maintained by PRISM. As a result, the travel manager does not have to acquire or support the hardware and software. This cost-effective approach ensures that the systems are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to users around the world.

Travel data are consolidated from any source, globally. But PRISM goes beyond just getting data. Proprietary routines conduct error checks and normalizes data, so data is reliable The PRISM Xport is a globally recognized data standard, which results in the best possible data. Data privacy is foundational at PRISM. As a "Safe Harbor" of data, PRISM was one of the first three travel companies to adopt European Community provisions for data privacy.

Using the contract management component, for the first time, a corporation has the airline equivalent of a "Corporate Yield Management System." Based on contracting models developed by PRISM for airlines, contract management enables the travel managers to negotiate with airlines with competitive information. Through better deals and compliance, Avion is self-funding.

Decision support comprises over 300 web-based graphical and tabular reports. Report sets automatically produce and distributes reports, translates amounts to local currency, all in a secure environment. Many have drill down objects for further analysis.

Avion advances corporate travel management to a new performance standard.
